CASE STUDIES / DESIGN EXAMPLES
Greek Dragon Cafe
Greek Dragon Café is a fictitious restaurant based in the city of Chicago, Illinois. It is a casual restaurant, featuring a fusion of Greek and Chinese cuisines. The audience is intended to be city dwellers who are on the go and want to stop in a comfortable, familiar place for a quick bite. You’ll see the logo consists of a dragon that ties in the Chinese influence and the font face ties in the Greek influence. The colors used tie back to each culture's traditional roots, red for Chinese and blue for Greek.
This branding project required the development and creation of a logo, a stationary package, marketing and advertising materials as well as an app. As part of the marketing requirements, to complement and to spread word about the app, I created a direct mailer that would serve to let the recipients know about the app and the online ordering feature.
Continuing with the marketing, next we have the menu design. The menu is something nearly every customer will come in contact with multiple times and will look to it as a resource so it is important it is easy to read and laid out well. Paired with the dine-in version of the menu, I also designed a to-go menu for take out customers. To finish it out, advertising in forms of billboards and posters continue to tie the various pieces together using the shared brand elements.
Photographic Traveler Magazine
Paired with my love for graphic design is my love for photography and traveling. After traveling to Iceland in 2017, I played around with creating a short magazine of my trip focusing on page layout and working with photography and large chunks of text. I had just started studying graphic design so I wasn't doing anything too seriously, just familiarizing myself with the software and doing something outside of class work.
As graduation approached two years later, I ended up revisiting this project and polished it up to be a portfolio piece. In addition to the magazine pages itself, which I touched up, I had to incorporate other assets so I created a logo for this fictional magazine, now called the Photographic Traveler Magazine, and created/designed an insert as well as multiple covers to give an idea what future issues could hold.
The Photographic Traveler Magazine is a series that displays travel photography and writing and is geared towards those with a passion for photography, those who have extreme wanderlust or both.
Music Creatives Conference
When tasked with making up a conference, creating a brand and designing assets to support the branding, I chose to make up a conference for creatives working in the music industry. Music Creatives Conference is a fictional conference for photographers, videographers and designers in the music industry to network and learn together over the course of 3 days in Cleveland, OH.
I designed two logos, one for the group Music Creatives and one specifically for the 2019 conference.
Joshua Tree National Park Website and App
Fictional branding for Joshua Tree National Park, including logo, advertisements, website design, app design and merchandise.
For the branding, bold font faces and warm colors are used to represent the bold nature of the desert landscape that is Joshua Tree National Park as well as the bold attitude of those who hike and climb here.
With the simple call to "experience Joshua Tree" the goal is to catch the attention of those looking for an adventure.
